When inserting into a straight follicle, the angle of the protruding hair as it leaves the skin is the angle of the probe. The direction of growth is also considered. The probe size should be chosen through a careful visual assessment so that the diameter of the hair and follicle match the probediameter.
Always use the magnifying light and lens. Stretch the skin parallel to the direction of the insertion. If probing proves difficult, ‘wind’the hair around the probe. Practise this procedure to make it easier to use this technique.
